Natural edge burr elm bowls

I’ve just completed these two amazing burr elm bowls and will be featuring them in my gallery soon. Both display impressive gnarly edges, with the burry spikes still intact – often difficult to find with elm!

Hand finishing these on the lathe was a challenge, due mainly to the irregular shape. Most of the fine detail sanding was done whilst they were stationary, which is my preferred way of getting a super smooth result. I always have the lathe running in reverse for the final sand, as this removes any visible scratches.
